RENSSELAER, Ind. (WLFI) – Police have arrested a man connected to a robbery at a Raceway gas station.

Police say a concerned citizen called the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Saturday after 5:30 p.m. She said she saw a white male matching the suspect’s description riding his bike on Wood and Marion School Roads.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Napier made contact with the man at 250 West and 300 South in Jasper County. Napier said he believed the individual, Jacob Bailey of Rensselaer, had evidence of the robbery on him.

Suspected evidence of the robbery was located at Bailey’s apartment after law enforcement obtained a search warrant. He was taken to Jasper County Detention Center and charged with armed robbery, a class B felony.

Police say the case remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed at a later date.

“I wanted to thank the citizen that called in the tip,” said Chief Jeff Phillips. “It’s people like this that solve crime and make this a safe place to live.”
