Visitors tour Haan Mansion

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – About two dozen people walked the halls of the Haan Mansion on a tour of the building this afternoon.

Bob and Ellie Haan, who bought the building thirty years ago, guided groups through rooms on both the first and second level. Visitors got a look at art created by Indiana artists and American furniture in the house as well as stories behind those pieces.

The building has been in Lafayette since 1904, when it was bought and moved to Lafayette after the World Fair by William Potter. The Haan’s say they are glad to open up their residence to visitors to remind them of the house’s stunning collection.

“Bob and I are so busy that we don’t, very often, just take the time to go around and appreciate what’s here, and so when we have groups in it its kinda fun to remember how nice it is,” said Ellie Haan.

The next tour of the home will be offered on April 26. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
