WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A long vacant spot in West Lafayette could stay that way for the foreseeable future.
West Lafayette officials said the former CVS at the corner of Sagamore Parkway West and Salisbury Street has been the topic of a lot of citizens’ questions.
City Engineer Dave Buck said CVS has a lease with the landowner for several more years and is looking to rent it, but the rent has been too high for possible prospects. Buck said he does not know the exact amount the company is asking, but it is near $10,000 a month.
He wishes CVS could be more community-minded, so the building can get filled.
“Every time we ask if they would be interested in working with us, they want to hold on to that lease and keep it empty,” Buck said.
Buck said the city approached the Starbucks across the street about moving into the old CVS building a few months ago. The company said the price was too high.
