WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Cyber security is the focus of the 15th annual CERIAS Symposium at Purdue University.
CERIAS stands for Purdue’s Center for Education and Research for Information Assurance and Security. The symposium discusses research on cyber-crime prevention at the local and national levels.
CERIAS Executive Director Eugene Spafford said the goal is to improve communications between industry, government and the university about cyber security.
“We do research here on how to secure systems, how to investigate digital crime, and how to increase privacy for people and for companies. This event is intended to help bring more information to the people doing the research and those who are concerned with it,” explained Spafford.
He said about 200 people are attending the symposium this year. Purdue students were able to present and share their research at the symposium.
