CARROLL COUNTY (WLFI) – One person was airlifted to the hospital after a crash in Carroll County Wednesday night.

It happened on County Road 900 West, outside of Delphi and across U.S. 421 from Pittsburg. The emergency call was made by the vehicle’s navigation system. When crews arrived on scene, they found a sports car in a ditch off the curvy road.

“The driver drove off the road, was extricated by the Delphi Fire Department, and flown to a nearby hospital with serious but stable injuries,” said Delphi Fire Chief Darrell Sterrett.

It was unclear which hospital the driver was airlifted to, according to investigators. As of late Wednesday night, they didn’t have the driver’s name because he was taken away so quickly. They were still trying to figure out how it happened.

The road was closed while crews cleared the scene. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
