TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Local unemployment rates rose again in February, despite another decline in the statewide jobless rate.

Tippecanoe County’s unemployment rate last month was up three-tenths of one percent to 5.8 percent.

Jobless rates were up in all counties in the News 18 viewing area. The largest increase was in Jasper County, where the rate was up more than one percent to 9.3 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate fell last month to 6.1 percent. The Department of Workforce Development said the number of unemployed Indiana residents is less than 200,000 for the first time since August of 2008.
