OTTERBEIN, Ind. (WLFI) – An Otterbein home is a total loss after catching fire Saturday afternoon.

Otterbein Fire Department responded to the fire at Columbia and Rhode Streets in Otterbein around 3:00 p.m. Assistant Chief Kevin Shoults says a passerby called in the fire. Crews say heavy smoke was visible upon arrival.

Shoults adds that the wind may have played a role in how destructive the flames became.

“The wind probably did help push it through the house because of where it started [and] the direction the wind was blowing,” said Shoults.

No people or pets were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
