Purdue softball splits double-header with MSU

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) – The Boilermaker softball team secured the season series with Michigan State, splitting a Sunday doubleheader, falling 6-3 in the first game and winning the finale 10-1.

Senior Andie Varsho went 5-for-7 on the day, including a 3-for-4 effort in Game 1, while tying the Purdue career hits record with 255, matching Katie Crabtree’s tally from 1999-2002.

Senior Danielle Fletcher had a three-hit effort, including a home run and a double, in Game 2, while Varsho and freshman Katy McJunkin had two hits apiece in the night cap.

Sophomore Lilly Fecho (13-9) and junior Lexy Moore (3-7) had four strikeouts apiece in Game 1, while Moore added two more Ks in a winning effort in Game 2. Junior Alex Whittemore also saw time in the circle in the win.
