TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Indiana’s primary election is about a month away and Tippecanoe County leaders are taking the next few weeks to prepare.

Wednesday morning, the county Board of Elections met to perform a public test of voting equipment.

Tippecanoe County Clerk Christa Coffey said they experienced difficulties with voting equipment during previous elections and hope to avoid any problems this year.

“In 2012 during the November election, we had both of our optical scan machines go down on us, so we had to have a replacement for the time,” Coffey explained. “So, now we have two new additional machines that we wanted to test as well.”

Early voting for May’s primary begins April 8, 2014.
