‘Kindergarten Roundup’ scheduled for all TSC elementary schools

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – When it comes to enrolling children in kindergarten, parents have a lot of information to remember in order to make the transition a smooth one.

To help with the process, the Tippecanoe School Corporation will host Kindergarten Roundup next week for the 2014-15 school year.

The event will help parents gather material needed to get their child signed up for kindergarten.

If you will be enrolling an incoming kindergarten student in one of the TSC elementary schools, contact that elementary school prior to roundup to acquire a username and password for online registration.

Also, prior to roundup, parents should gather all information needed for your child’s emergency contact list.

Your child’s immunization record and legal birth certificate or passport are also required during roundup.

Children must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2014 to be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten. If you feel your child is not emotionally mature enough for exposure to the school environment, please know that he or she may wait a year before enrolling.

If you feel your child is ready for a kindergarten experience, but does not meet the birth date eligibility requirement, you may apply through the TSC superintendent.

The superintendent will determine admission based on date of birth and space availability.

If more applications are received than spaces, children whose birth dates are closest to August 1 will be admitted. If no space is available, or it is not in the best interest of the school or children, no early admission will be accepted.

Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9 at all of TSC’s elementary schools.

However, for Mintonye Elementary the event is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 in the lobby of First Assembly Community Ministries.
