DNR investigating possible drowning in S. Ind.

DEARBORN CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Conservation officers are investigating a possible drowning in southern Indiana Thursday.

DNR officers said the incident occurred Wednesday, April 2 at a farm pond on Dutch Hollow Road in Dearborn County. At approximately 6:17 a.m., the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area for a report of a person who appeared to be confused.

Dearborn County personnel had previously responded to that area in regards to patient with Alzheimer’s, who had wandered from her home.

An extensive search of the area was made and authorities located a blanket in the vicinity of the farm pond along Dutch Hollow Road. A short time later the body of Peggy L. Dean, 57, of Aurora, Ind. was recovered from the pond.

An autopsy conducted indicates that no foul play was not involved and toxicology results are pending.

DNR said the incident remains under investigation.
