Purdue Fraternity holds candlelight vigil

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Purdue Fraternity is holding a candlelight vigil to promote sexual assault awareness.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and to help raise awareness, Delta Tau Delta held the We Honor Women Candle Light Vigil at the Purdue Armory Thursday night.

Fraternity President Matt Lodge said the Lafayette Crisis Center visited them earlier this year to see if they could help raise awareness. Lodge said they decided to help by holding the vigil and raising donations for the crisis center.

“They’re not really looking for money out of this. They’re looking to raise awareness. The money is just sort of a bonus, so it can help support the things that they do,” said Lodge.

In addition to Thursday’s vigil, the fraternity is also having a serenade Saturday afternoon at University Church.
