MatchBOX encourages collaborative workspace

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – “It’s everything they said it would be and more,” said Kyle Burke.

That’s how Burke describes his new work space, a place he said is like nothing he’s ever seen before.

“It just inspires creativity,” said Burke. “When you’re in here, you walk in and you want to pull out your computer and start working. For someone like me, that’s really important.”

Burke is part of the MatchBOX community, a new co-working studio in downtown Lafayette.

Operations Manager Ashley Scott describes it as a place to work for those who don’t have a place to go. It’s also a space she said encourages collaboration.

“Co-working at its core is about collaboration and, like I said, sharing resources,” said Scott. “For Lafayette, it’s also a sign of progress and innovation. It’s a home for creative professionals.”

The studio sits on S. Sixth Street and includes 24-hour hour access, conference room reservations, high-speed internet and unlimited coffee and snacks.

The flexibility and unlimited resources were a selling point for Matt Musgrave.

“It’s not your typical 9 to 5 kind of space,” said Musgrave. “It’s a really nice urban design that allows for open collaboration. We really like that.”

MatchBOX held its soft opening a few weeks ago and already serves nearly 30 members.

Scott said membership prices vary, depending on the clients needs. But she said no matter your needs, they can be met at MatchBOX.

“If you’re looking to launch a career, or you’re looking for a place to go after graduation, or maybe you’re not from here like myself and you really fell in love with the culture of this community — this is a reason to stay,” said Scott.

MatchBOX will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, April 11 at 11 a.m.
