BARTHOLOMEW CO., Ind. (WISH) – Indiana Conservation Officers said around 12:45 p.m. Sunday that they were searching for a missing kayaker in the White River.
Officers received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. that a kayak had capsized and a kayaker was missing.
According to a release, the search is happening near Mill Race Park in Columbus. WISH news gathering partner The Republic reports one of the two people in the kayak, a male Columbus resident in his 20s, made it safely to the bank. The missing man has been identified as Enrique Quinonez of Kalamazoo, Mich.
Neither of the men in the kayak were wearing a life jacket. Police officials do not believe the missing kayaker knows how to swim.
Six boats and a helicopter were called to aid in the search effort. People are advised to stay away from the area
