TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. – Layla Abbott, the mother of the twin boys killed in a Tippecanoe County house fire Saturday, spoke with News 18 about her tragic loss.

“They were the light of my life, so sweet and special. They were perfect, ” said Abbott.

Three-year-old twins Landon Tyler Abbott and Liam Cecil Abbott, were pulled from a fire on Brandy Kay Court by Tippecanoe County Sheriff personnel Saturday morning. They were transported to area hospitals, but died from injuries sustained in the fire.

Abbott said Landon and Liam had a special relationship and were always together.

“They loved riding their bikes together. They were smart and always protected each other,” said Abbott.

Abbott’s other children, a 9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son, were staying with her at the time of the fire.

“They are both heartbroken. We all are.” said Abbott.

Abbott told News 18 that a fund to help with Landon and Liam’s funeral arrangements will be set up Monday at Lafayette Bank & Trust.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office said the fire is still under investigation, and it could be up to two weeks before a cause is determined.
