‘Something suspicious’ turns up body in Ind. Lake

PORTER CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Authorities responded to Lake Charles early Sunday morning after a local fisherman reported seeing “something suspicious” in the water, which after further investigation turned out to be a body.

Indiana State Police were called to Lake Charles, a public town park located in Porter, Ind., at approximately 7:10 a.m. A local fisherman called Porter police to report “something suspicious” floating in the water.

Members of ISP SCUBA team, with help from Porter Fire and Rescue, recovered a female body dressed in dark clothing from the water.

According to ISP, an autopsy will conducted this week to positively identify the body.

Indiana State Police said the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.

Other agencies that responded to the scene were Porter Police Department, Porter Fire and Search and Rescue, Chesterton Police Department, Department of Natural Resources and Porter County Coroner.
