WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – University Church will be closing its doors and moving to a new location within the next year.

Purdue Research Foundation is purchasing the land for $2.4 million. The land came up for sale before the holiday season.

PRF Vice President Joe Hornett said it took nearly five months to negotiate and purchase the land. Hornett said if any land near campus is up for sale, Purdue wants to be one of the first to inquire about it.

“It was just a prime piece of real estate, adjacent to a lot of other Purdue facilities. So, it was location, location, location that was really what drove the purchase,” said Hornett.

University church will have until May of next year to find a new home.

Hornett said while the church is there, they will figure out how to best use the land.
