LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – For just five pennies or one nickel, cat owners were able to get their pets spayed and neutered Sunday.
Almost Home Humane Society’s Neuter for a Nickel event had 175 cats registered for the procedure. Vaccinations and discounted microchipping were also available. This was the first time the event was held at the humane society.
Executive director Stacy Rogers says doing the procedure can keep cats from spraying inside and gives them less desire to roam.
“It keeps them healthier. It’s just kind of good overall for the cat and for you.” said Rogers.
While Sunday provided pet owners a special deal, Rogers says the Almost Home Humane Society offers low-cost spay and neuter program for pets on a daily basis.
