TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A Crawfordsville man faces criminal charges after prosecutors said he stole a man’s wallet and spent more than $850 with his debit card.

Prosecutors said Eric Hansen stole the wallet from a truck in Darlington, Ind. and used the card at a Lafayette WalMart to buy a computer, a cell phone, electronics and clothing. They said he was identified in surveillance video along with a juvenile girl.

Authorities said the girl told police Hansen was addicted to heroin and traded the computer for drugs. Court documents reveal that Hansen told police he didn’t remember the incident because of memory issues connected to drug use.

Hansen faces theft and forgery charges.
