Richard for Sheriff signs vandalized

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Several political signs endorsing Barry Richard for Tippecanoe County Sheriff were taken down after being vandalized this weekend.

The signs were at the intersection of Ninth Street and Teal Road in Lafayette.

Richard said he was informed about the signs early Sunday morning. He said last week, several of his signs were also stolen.

Richard said he’s not sure if it’s meant to be a direct attack on him, but he said the community and candidates deserve better.

“It’s very frustrating because you work very hard as a candidate to make sure that you get your support, your information, your awareness out there,” said Richard.

Richard said he’s not sure if any of the other candidates have encountered this problem.

He said all the stolen and vandalized signs have been replaced. The Lafayette Police Department is aware of the situation.
