Cass Co. man sentenced for murder

CASS CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A Cass County man was sentenced to 55 years behind bars for murdering his neighbor.

The sentencing for Loren Fry, 78,  took place Tuesday. In March, he was found guilty after a four-day trial and four hours of deliberation by the jury.

In September 2011, Dave Schroder, 76, was found dead in a pickup truck outside a home on County Road 275 North in Logansport. He was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.

A day later, Fry was arrested and charged with murder.

Neighbors previously told News 18 the shooting happened over a land dispute that had continued for many years.

According to court documents, several witnesses saw both men driving down the road where Schroder was found. One witness claimed Fry had threatened Schroder and that he had fired a gun at his residence in the past.
