TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Crews responded to several crashes Tuesday morning due to icy roads and Sagamore Parkway was not left out of the mix.

Sagamore Parkway is open after two crashes snarled traffic on the bridge over the Wabash River Tuesday morning.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s deputies said, the first crash happened in the eastbound lanes when a moped driver lost control and started a chain reaction of crashes. At least 10 cars were involved, but no one was injured.

The second crash happened in the westbound lanes while police were working the eastbound crash. Deputies said an SUV was following too closely and swerved when traffic slowed down causing a chain reaction of crashes that involved five cars. There were no injuries reported.

Law enforcement said drivers should leave space between themselves and the car in front of them and always slow down for slick conditions. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
