LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Sunnyside Intermediate School is introducing iPads into their classrooms. Beginning next school year, more than 1,100 students and teachers will receive iPads.
A few pilot classes within the school have used iPads since January.
Assistant principal Matt Brown said there have been some kinks, but the program has provided positive results.
“We’ve seen an increase in engagement from day one. Our fifth grade teachers are talking about how kids, who were initially reluctant readers or really reluctant to get into their math work, are now completely focused on getting that work done,” said Brown.
The school made cuts in the supply list to keep iPad costs down for parents. However, there will be a small increase in the textbook rental fee.
