WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) – Purdue junior Aurora Kan was named the Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday in the wake of Saturday’s performance at the Purdue Rainy Day Shootout.
The award is Kan’s third weekly honor of the season as she posted the top individual score of the event at five-over, 149 for 36 holes at the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Kan opened Saturday’s competition with a round of two-over, 74, and followed up with a three-over, 75, in the second 18 holes of the day, topping sophomore teammate Brooke Beegle by three strokes for the top spot at the tournament. Kan had four birdies on the day, three coming over the first 18 holes, and made 25 pars, en route to the top individual score in both rounds.
Kan has now been the top finisher in three tournaments this season, taking the Butler Fall Invitational title and tying for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic crown before this weekend’s win. Her two-round, 149, is the fourth-best 36-hole total for the Boilermakers this season, and she’s averaging 73.7 strokes per round on the year.
The Boilermakers return to action on Saturday at the Big Ten-loaded Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
