Students experience Air Force flight simulator

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Jeff High School students got the chance to take a ride on an Air Force jet simulator.

The United States Air Force is stopping by high schools across the nation with the Rapid Strike mission simulator. Riders get to experience what it is like to fly an F-22 jet, parachute from a C-17 cargo plane and fly with a missile on its way to its target.

Staff Sgt. Jon Ridley said the goal of the simulator is to create awareness of what the Air Force has to offer. He said he just wants teenagers to know the Air Force is an option after graduation.

“The Air Force always wants you to kind of better yourself. A more educated person is going to be more productive in the workforce. So they are always trying to help you better yourself,” Ridley said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
