Daniels to help with presidential debates

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – While Mitch Daniels will not be running for president in 2016, he will lend a hand in the race.

Daniels accepted a position on the board of directors for the Commission on Presidential Debates. The panel sponsors and produces debates for the United States presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Our partners at the Purdue Exponent report the panel also chooses locations and moderators.

Daniels said he’s not sure if Purdue will be a location for a debate.

“I don’t know if that will ever come into play. It’s an expensive thing to do. I’m far from sure that we’d want to do it, but it won’t be a problem for us. I don’t know, maybe we’d get a little leg up, I don’t know,” said Daniels.

Daniels said the position should take very little of his time away from Purdue.
