WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Former Purdue Boilermaker Anna Drewry will be the next head coach of the Lafayette Jeff Bronchos volleyball team.
“I am excited to be part of the proud tradition that Jeff Volleyball has created over time,” Drewry said. “For years I have been inspired by the great coaches at Purdue University as a student-athlete. I look forward to bringing enthusiasm while inspiring and motivating the current and future student athletes at Jefferson High School. I’ve always heard great things about the Lafayette School Corporation and I’m proud to be part of the family.”
As a volleyball student-athlete at Purdue University, Anna was a three-time Big Ten freshmen of the week, led the team in kills 5 times vs. Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Illinois. As a senior, Anna was Academic All-Big Ten and started 32 matches and led the team in blocks and ranked 10th in the Big Ten overall per set.
She was named to Big Ten/Big East Challenge and Active Ankle Challenge All-Tournament teams to round out her career. Anna was a centerpiece for the Boilermakers success as they pushed through the NCAA tournament to the Sweet 16 before a season ending injury.
“Anna is a great fit for our school and our kids here at Jeff,” Lafayette Jeff Athletics Director Peyton Stovall said. “I’m excited about the passion she has to build a program and really get involved with our youth. She has tremendous potential to be one of the greats to coach volleyball because she’s continuously a student of the game. It’s great to welcome her to the Lafayette School Corporation and Jefferson Family as the next head coach of our girls volleyball team.”
