Purdue holds gun violence prevention panel.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Gun violence prevention is the focus of a panel discussion at Purdue tonight.

Purdue Police Chief Jon Cox  and Virginia Tech shooting survivor Colin Goddard led the panel at Matthews Hall Wednesday evening.

The panel focused on current issues and problems with gun rights and how to move forward from January’s campus shooting at Purdue.

Goddard said it’s important to move forward and make a positive out of a tragic event.
“Purdue doesn’t have to be defined in the school and in the people,” said Goddard. “They don’t have to be defined about what happened here negative, but by what they chose to do to after the fact and leave a legacy behind, so it doesn’t happen to somebody else.”

Goddard works with “Everytown for Gun Safety”. In addition to Wednesday’s panel, Goddard said he will head to Indianapolis this weekend to help lead a demonstration during the National Rifle Association convention.
