WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – McCutcheon couldn’t get anything going offensively as long as Tristan Pate was on the mound for Terre Haute North. The junior gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his four innings of work.

Brandon Giroux was charged with the loss for the Mavericks. He pitched all seven innings, walking two, striking out seven, and allowing three runs.

The top of the third saw the Patriots take an early 1-0 lead. Brett Herndon kicked things off for North with a single. A stolen base then moved Herndon from first to second. The sophomore would score on an error on the Mavs.

McCutcheon would get one run back in the fourth inning on an error, but that would be the only time they could captiolize.

Terre Haute North stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fifth, scoring one run on an RBI triple by Milam.

Milam collected three hits for the Patriots, he also singled in the first and third innings.

McCutcheon will look to bounce back Friday afternoon as the Mavericks square off against the Lafayette Jeff Bronchos at Loeb Stadium. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
