New board offers to erase fears

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two new chalkboard murals on display in Greater Lafayette offer people a chance to erase their fears.

The Your Fears Erased Here murals have replaced the Before I Die boards in West Lafayette and Lafayette. The murals ask people to write down their fears. The new message was selected by the West Lafayette Public Arts Team and City of Lafayette representatives.

One of the boards is placed outside of Rubia Flower Market. Store owner Terry Smith said she loves the board’s concept.

“It really seems a little bit more emotional, which you wouldn’t guess with the Before I Die [mural] last year. This one seems a little bit more vulnerable, which is interesting,” said Smith.

The fears on the board won’t stay up for long. Smith said the West Lafayette Fire Department washes the board off as soon as it is full.
