LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Comcast cable customers in the Lafayette area will have a new provider.

Connecticut-based Charter Communications said it has reached an agreement to take control of nearly 4 million Comcast customers in a plan that will create a new cable-TV company in central Indiana.

Charter will form a holding company that will acquire a 33-percent stake in a spinoff from Comcast that will include 2.5 million Comcast customers. The new holding company is known as SpinCo. SpinCo will take over 2.5 million Comcast customers in Indiana, including most of the northern part of the state.

No timeline for the new company’s service was given.
