BOONE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Police in Boone County said a woman was stopped for speeding this morning by someone who wasn’t an officer.

Sheriff Ken Campbell said the woman was pulled over on State Road 75 just south of Add-vance Advance around 5 a.m. Monday. The woman said she was stopped by a man in a dark-colored Ford Crown Victoria with a red and blue dash light. The man was wearing dark-colored clothing.

She said he told her he stopped her for speeding and needed her to come back to his car. The woman asked for another officer and the man got back into his car and left.

Sheriff Campbell said in Indiana officers must be in full uniform or in a fully-marked police vehicle to stop a motorist.
