LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Oscar Winski, an environmental leader in full-service metal recycling, is expanding to Porter County. On Tuesday, the company welcomed Porter County Iron & Metal to their metal-recycling family.

The Porter County facility, located in Hebron, Ind., will specialize in the recycling of both ferrous and nonferrous metals. Oscar Winski said the new facility will fuel metal recycling throughout the Midwest.

David Bluestein, Oscar Winski’s vice president of metal recycling, said they are thrilled to add this facility and believes the close proximity to the steel mills will allow for more growth.

“Porter County gives us the opportunity to enhance our service capabilities and provide even more value to our customer base in northwest Indiana,” Bluestein told News 18 in a release.

Oscar Winski Metals Recycling has been processing ferrous and nonferrous scrap materials for sale to production mills and foundries since 1907. Company officials said it recycles more than 400 million pounds of metal annually.

Oscar Winski Company operates its Steel & Aluminum sales division in Lafayette, Ind. Lafayette Steel & Aluminum is an ISO9001-2000 certified steel and aluminum service center, which provides manufacturers and retail suppliers with high-quality steel and aluminum sheets, coils, plates, structural steel and tubing, according to Oscar Winski’s website.

The company also provides eRecycling for a safe way to dispose of old electronics. Oscar Winski said they are officially R2 certified and the first Indiana-based eRecycler to obtain this credential. The R2 certification is the gold standard in the industry, according to company. They said it provides an absolute assurance of proper recycling and data security practices.
