US 231 has reopened after a car, semi collide

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A car and semi collided closing U.S. 231 in both directions just north of County Road 625 South for several hours Wednesday.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s deputies said two men were sent to the hospital after a crash on U.S. 231 on the county’s south side. They said a man driving north crossed the center line and collided with a semi truck in the southbound lane.

Both vehicles left the roadway and landed in a field.

Deputies said the driver of the car was severely injured and airlifted to Indianapolis. The driver of the semi was taken to Franciscan Saint Elizabeth East hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the drivers have not yet been released.
