Hayes Cronk

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Hayes Cronk went the distance and led Central Catholic to a 4-0 win over Lafayette Jeff on Friday night at Gordon Leming Field.

Cronk kept contact to a minimum, striking out 12 Broncho batters. The CC senior tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only two hits.

Jeremy Griggs took the loss for Lafayette Jeff. He lasted just five innings, walking three, striking out two and allowing four runs.

Central Catholic led from start to finish. The Knights got on the board in the second, when they scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Berumen and an RBI single by Jackson Anthrop.

CC built on its lead with two more runs in the fifth. Bradyn Bordenet kicked things off with a double, plating Evan Kennedy. That was followed up by Pete Metzinger’s double, scoring Bordenet.

Central Catholic is now 13-5 on the year and will return to action on Tuesday when the Knights host Delphi in a Hoosier Conference showdown at Gordon Leming Field.
