Lafayette getting ready for a ‘Clean Sweep’

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The City of Lafayette is ready to do a little spring cleaning with the help of volunteers. To raise awareness of the Clean Sweep event, the city put together a music video with city employees.

People and organizations can volunteer for the 2014 Clean Sweep event on May 17. City Clerk Cindy Murray said due to the long winter, more litter than usual is scattered around neighborhoods.

People will gather at Columbian Park, pick up gloves and litter bags and be assigned an area to work in. Murray said having a clean city is a point of pride for the people living in it.

“You get the citizens involved they have a little ownership and they want our community to look really nice. Each year we do it and each year it gets bigger and bigger,” Murray said.
