LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A man found guilty of three charges stemming from a 2012 bar fight in Lafayette is sentenced to 18 years in prison.

As News 18 reported last month, a jury convicted Brent Dimmitt, 37, of three charges including battery resulting in serious bodily injury and criminal gang activity. The jury couldn’t reach a verdict on a charge of aggravated battery and that charge was dismissed. Dimmitt later pleaded guilty to being a habitual offender.

Dimmitt seriously injured David Widner in a fight at Champs bar on Earl Avenue in December 2012.

Dimmit was also sentenced to one year of supervised probation.
