BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) – The group putting Fishing Has No Boundaries together is working toward buying an additional pontoon boat to get more people with disabilities out on the water.

The organization needs $25,000 to purchase the boat and make it accessible to users. So far, organizers have raised more than $6,000.

Co-organizer Mary Linder said the additional boat would mean they can reach out to more people with disabilities and take them fishing.

“You’ve got to realize when you have these electric chairs, you can’t get a lot of these people on just any pontoon boat. Because it’s a lot of weight and the gates aren’t big enough to get some of these chairs in, so we have to kind of work around these circumstances,” said Linder.

Next weekend will be the 19th annual Fishing Has No Boundaries event at Lake Freeman. Nearly 90 people are expected to attend. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
