LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette officials are introducing the newest addition to Columbian Park.
The Columbian Park Express Train Depot was unveiled at a ceremony this afternoon. Dozens of people came out to see the new depot.
The depot took nearly a year and a half to build and is located at the center of the park. Parks superintendent Claudine Laufman said the depot is a great place for people to gather as they wait for the train.
“The train has a special place in everyone’s heart, who lives in Lafayette,” said Laufman. “I think adding a beautiful train depot, such as this, will really add to the memories and the memories of future generations to come.”
The depot also features a custom miniature train set. Laufman said the custom set was built by 12 volunteers, who spent more than 1,000 hours building it.
