INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 21-year-old man was gravely injured Thursday morning when a car ran him over on the city’s northeast side.
Around 5:30 a.m. the man was in dark clothes walking in the road along North Mitthoeffer Road when a car came over the hill and hit him. The driver of the car said he didn’t see the man.
The pedestrian was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Health in critical condition.
Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the crash, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said. But the driver was taken in for a blood test as part of standard procedure.
There were no sidewalks in the area where the man was hit.
