HCBC car show continues to benefit veterans

Car Show 1

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A group of students helped honor one mother this Mother’s Day weekend. The Harrison High School Car and Bike Club held its annual car show Saturday. Cars from the 1950s to present were on display during the car show.

This year, the proceeds benefited the Wreaths Across America program. The program works with the Lafayette Gold Star Mothers to put wreaths on graves at the Indiana Veterans’ Home.

This is the fourth year the club has raised money for a veteran organization.

Harrison Car and Bike Club co-president Grant Sondgeroth said the idea to raise money for veterans came after a teacher lost her son in the line of duty.

“Her son was in Afghanistan, and so after he passed away we really wanted to help out with veterans. So, we have a personal connection to the cause and the event,” Sondgeroth said.

Last year, the car show raised about $2,500. Sondgeroth said he thinks the group will raise just as much, if not more money, this year.
