Fire destroys Battle Ground home

Fire destroys Battle Ground home on Monday, May 12.

BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) – A fire early Monday morning demolished a Battle Ground home.

Neighbors said they heard a loud noise moments before the started at a home in the 2100 block of Naschette Parkway. Firefighters received the call around 12:45 Monday morning.

The fire had started in the garage and then spread to the entire house. Crews had it under control within 15 minutes but stayed behind for several hours to put out any hot spots in the building.

Steve Baker of the Tippecanoe Township Fire Department said the homeowners noticed something was wrong after an electrical storm passed through the area.

“After the heavy lightning storm came through, they said they noticed a strong electrical smell within the garage. As of right now, the cause is undetermined. We have no idea until we get in there and do some further investigating. It seems very suspicious. We had a huge lightning storm come through right when we got the house fire,” said Baker.

Both residents made it out of the home safely. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
