FOUNTAIN CO., Ind. (WLFI) – It could be some time before we know what caused a deadly plane crash in Fountain County over the weekend.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the investigation could take anywhere from 6 months to a year. Investigators said they will be looking into things like the pilot’s history and plane maintenance.

The Federal Aviation Administration will also be helping with the investigation.

Charles Coffing, 72, of Covington was killed Saturday when his ultra-light plane crashed just 3 miles outside of Attica.

The circumstances of where Coffing was coming from or flying to is unknown, investigators said.
