Small Business Week proclaimed in Greater Lafayette

WEB STILL SMALL BUSINESS WEEK00000000

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Greater Lafayette Commerce and local leaders are recognizing national Small Business Week this week. Mayors John Dennis and Tony Roswarski, along with Tippecanoe County Commissioner Dave Byers signed a Small Business Week proclamation Monday.

The ceremony put the spotlight on small businesses that have been in the Greater Lafayette Area for more than 20 years.

2004 GLC Small Business of the Year winner Jane Ausman-Mudawar owns Jane’s Gourmet Deli in Lafayette. She said her success is linked the relationship she creates with her customers.

“I think, in terms of my business, we’re a social link to people’s lives. People come in to my restaurant everyday. Sometimes, everyday of the week. They sit in the same place, and when they come in we know what they want to order before they even arrive,” said Ausman-Mudawar.

A small business is defined as having no more than 50 employees. Greater Lafayette Commerce said 80 percent of its members are small businesses.
