LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A group that delivered more than 88,000 home meals and provided more than 102,000 trips to seniors last year celebrates their 40th anniversary Tuesday evening.
The Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs provides services across eight counties in the region in areas like energy assistance, health screenings and running the Senior Center. About 100 volunteers and partners came together to celebrate four decades of existence with food, drinks and even a special cake.
“It’s important to celebrate our accomplishments and to bring our partners together, to look at where we are so we can plan for where we are going,” said Area IV executive director Elva James.
For the first time last year, Area IV served meals to Frankfort and Monticello children who might otherwise go hungry during the summer. As for year 41, James hopes to raise the capacity to serve even more people in need.
