MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) – One lane by day, and closed at night, according to INDOT in regards to the U.S. 24 Bridge in Monticello.

Crews are building the new U.S. 24 Bridge over the Tippecanoe River alongside the existing bridge.

The Indiana Department of Transportation said the U.S. 24 Bridge, also known as Washington Street Bridge, will be restricted to one lane of traffic directed over the bridge with flaggers during the day, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

However, INDOT said only emergency vehicles will be permitted on the bridge at night, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Officials expect the new bridge to be open by early July.
