Offense aplenty in Frontier’s 15-11 win against Benton Central

CHALMERS, Ind. (WLFI) – Frontier’s Brandon Gallinger, Jarrett Burroughs, Kyle Mikesell and Cole Fesler combined for seven hits and six RBIs to lead the Falcons to a 15-11 victory.

The top of the first saw Benton Central take an early 2-0 lead. After responding with one run in the home half of the first, Frontier put up three runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings.

Four runs in the top of the fifth helped BC close its deficit to 8-7. An error, followed by another error, and an RBI single by Brett Shoults fueled the Bison comeback. Frontier stopped the rally after Michael Hirt got Jake Matson to ground out.

Three Bison runs crossed the plate in the top half of the sixth, making the score 11-10. Jake Matson struck out to end the Bison threat.

Frontier responded with three runs in the sixth. The Falcons scored on an error, a groundout by Brandon Gallinger, and an RBI double by Cole Fesler to put the game away for good.

Sam Smith racked up four RBIs on two hits for BC. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the sixth.

Marcus Patterson took the loss for Benton Central.
