BENTON CO., Ind. (WLFI) – The Benton Community School Corporation has a new superintendent, and it’s a familiar face.
Current interim superintendent Gregg Hoover has been offered the job permanently. The Benton Community School Board made the announcement Monday night at its monthly meeting.
As News 18 has already reported, Hoover was named interim superintendent in October amid controversy when the board gave previous superintendent Destin Haas a $25,000 bonus to leave early.
Hoover said his seven months as interim superintendent has prepared for the future.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve Benton Community Schools in this capacity. I’ve worked for Benton Community Schools for my entire career, and it’s just a nice step in a positive direction for my career and more importantly to help the students,” said Hoover.
Most recently, Hoover was the district’s IT specialist. Before that, he was a science teacher for 30 years.
