Police investigate crash near Purdue University Airport


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue police are investigating an unusual one-car crash near the airport Tuesday evening.

The car ended at the bottom of a large embankment right in front of the Purdue airport entrance on U.S. 231 around 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police it started several hundred yards back when the car crossed 231, crashed through a fence, drove on a pedestrian path, went back through the fence, crossed 231 again and drove down the embankment.

The driver, Gabriel Hurt, 20, was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Central with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause remains under investigation.
