LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe Arts Federation is receiving a $35,000 grant to update part of their property.

The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette awarded the grant after hearing plans to build an outdoor space for educational programs and performances. TAF is located in the Wells Library Building on North Street in Lafayette.

Community Foundation grant coordinator Leslie Fernung said the project meets several criteria they look for when awarding grants. Those include promoting education, child development and improving arts and culture in the community.

Fernung said this kind of support helps any community thrive.

“TAF had a very compelling proposal that they submitted to us,” said Fernung. “We, as a grants committee, felt very strongly that they would put the money to good use and that it would impact a large part of our community.”

The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette has awarded more than $120,000 in grants since April.
